GOEMON- a project created and developed with seaweed.

Inspired by my childhood in France and created along the Cornish coastline.

The sea holds many feelings and sentiment for people and draws us in with its charm and mystery. Spending time by the sea and breathing in the fresh salted air, acts as a retreat from everyday life. The beach brings many back to their childhood, and each rolling wave provokes a memory. Many of us find ourselves drawn to the water and Its melodic ways.

Along the Vendee Coastline in France the sea is a sanctuary for some but for others it is a dependant source of income. Geomon is the name of the local algae, collected and harvested for local crop yield as a fertiliser. This has been a tradition dating back to the middle ages, traditionally collected by horse and cart. Geomon is spread across the marshland to aid crop yield. A tradition still carried out today.

The sea holds many memories and takes on different forms and purposes. My seaweed prints celebrate its power and the memories it holds for us all.

Prints available to buy on request.
